URA FC made a quick return to winning ways in the Uganda Premier League after overcoming Maroons FC on Thursday at Mehta Stadium, Lugazi.

The Tax Collectors who have had a great start to 2024 suffered a blip in their last league outing, falling 1-0 to Wakiso Giants FC.

However, the David Obua-coached side were able to recover with a 4-1 win over Calvary FC in the Uganda Cup round of 32.

Today, URA FC have claimed a 2-0 win over Maroons FC thanks to first-half goals from Norman Namanya and Enock Walusimbi.

A blistering start to the game saw the Tax Collectors get into the lead in the 20th minute, finishing off a well-delivered corner kick from Amisi Bwangani.

A minute after the half-hour mark, the home side doubled their lead through Namanya who made a good run and slotted from close range.

Maroons stepped up efforts in the second half but this met a resilient URA FC who did not provide any outlet.

The Prison Warders were reduced to ten men in the 76th minute with Norman Odipio getting marching orders.

The result takes URA FC to seventh place with 30 points, the same number of points that Maroons FC in sixth have.
