Uganda Cycling Association (UCA) named a four man team of riders for the 13th African Games in Accra, Ghana.

Team captain and African champion Charles Kagimu leads Uganda’s team that also has silver medalist Lawrence Lorot, Paul Lomuria and pro-rider Jordan Schleck Ssekanwagi.

Veteran coach Ssaka Bukenya is handling the entire team alongside experienced sports administrator Samuel Mahaba Muwonge.

It will be an emotional moment for some team Uganda since the Africa cycling championship that happened in Ghana last year.

“This is a great time to return to Ghana. We shall be gearing for medals and great performances” Kagimu told the media before departure from Kampala city.

The African Games are also an Olympic qualifier for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Uganda has teams in football, cricket, badminton, table tennis, swimming, wrestling, athletics, judo, weightlifting, among others.
