Friday Fixtures @ 4pm

  • URA vs Kitara – Mehta Grounds, Lugazi
  • Maroons vs Kitara – Prisons Grounds, Luzira
  • Bright Stars vs Mbarara City – Kavumba

Maroons can become the first team to complete a double over current table leaders Kitara if they overcome them at Luzira on Friday.

The reverse fixture ended in a 1-0 victory for the two time league champions [1968 and 1969] and that is the only defeat for the Kitara side at Masindi this season.

Coming into the game, Maroons lost their last outing 2-0 to Maroons and are yet to pick maximum points in four second round fixtures.

This is in contrast to Kitara who ascended to the top of the table with three wins in four league games so far in the second round and just dropped points in the 1-1 draw with Villa.

David Ndihabwe, Maroons captain wants his teammates to show quality and go for all points.

“It was a disappointing performance and result in our last game but we have worked hard to put things right,” said Ndihabwe.

“We haven’t been clinical enough in front of goal but the good thing is that we create chances and playing at home gives us more confidence and belief,” he added.

Maxwell Owachigiu expects a tough outing but believes his side will do enough to continue with their form.

“They beat us in the first round and will be motivated but we want to continue with our good form,” he said.

Maroons have Darius Ojok back in the team after missing the last two games while with the Hippos.

Hot Stat: Maroons have lost just once at home this season in nine league games [D5, W3] while three of Kitara’s losses this season have come away from home.
