African Games: Uganda W v Kenya W
- Kenya 63/8 (17 overs)
- Uganda 66/4 (16.5/17 overs)
Uganda won by 6 wickets
- Next Game: Uganda W v Zimbabwe W | Friday, March 8
The match result might not tell the whole story but Uganda’s Victoria Pearls needed five runs off the final over to win their opening game at the All African Games.
Kenya opted to remain on the attack in the final over and like they say, whoever holds their nerve takes the day. Rita Musamali was gifted a full toss by Flavia Athieno that she caressed past mid off to give Uganda a six wicket win.

The Victoria Pearls won the toss and elected to bowl first in a game that was delayed by a wet outfield and was reduced to 17 overs per side.
Sarah Walaza had the first wicket to get Uganda but opener Melvin Khagoitsa (23) kept the score board ticking for Kenya but they could only manage 63/8 in 17 overs.
Uganda used their slow bowlers to good effect with an extended role for Immaculate Nakisuyi (2/17) from her four overs with the back up coming from Consy Aweko and Lorna Anyait.

In reply, Uganda lost two needless wickets via run out as Immaculate Nakisuyi and Esther Iloku losing their wickets without much contribution to the score board.

Gloria Obukor (29) played anchor role for the side ensuring that one side was intact as Uganda took their time getting over the line.
Nakisuyi took the player of the match award for her performance with the ball and direct hit run out.

The favourites in Group B, Zimbabwe and Uganda, picked up wins on the first day. The two meet tomorrow afternoon and the winner will be favourite to top the group.
