The official opening ceremony of the thirteenth edition of the African Games, hosted in Accra, Ghana, was held on Friday, March 8, 2024. H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the President of Ghana, graced the colourful and vibrant ceremony held at the state-of-the-art University of Ghana Stadium.
Uganda was well represented at the ceremony by National Council of Sports chairperson Ambrose Tashobya and his General Secretary Dr Patrick Bernard Ogwel.
Here are the best photos from the ceremony which featured spectacular performances from the Ghana Armed Forces brass band, popstars Shatta Wale, King Promise, Kamo Mphela, and various volunteer groups.



















Over 5000 athletes and coaches from fifty-five countries will compete in twenty-nine different sports during the event which will run from March 4-23. The competitions will be played in eleven different venues spread around the country.
