13th African Games (Badminton – Men Doubles):

Benin (Ahouangassic & Fano Dosh) 1-2 Expedito Emuddu & Augustus Owinyi (Uganda)

  • Set 2: 21-13 (Uganda win)

  • Set 3:21-13 (Uganda win)

Uganda’s men badminton pair of Expedito Emuddu and Augustus Owinyi qualified for the quarter-finals of the 13th African Games in Accra, Ghana on Saturday, 9th March 2024.

Emuddu and Owinyi combined forces to defeat Benin’s duo of Ahouangassic and Fano Dosh 2-1.

Benin took the first set 21-17 with a gallant comeback for Uganda 21-13 to force a decider.

In the deciding contest during set three; Uganda won 21-13.

Uganda will now face Nigeria in the quarter finals during the men’s doubles, a fixture that Emuddu believes is approachable.

“I thank my teammate for the brave fight. We take on Nigeria who are aggressive and shall be able to fight on” Emuddu remarked.
