  • Team Ageno 65-35 Team Perus

When a woman smiles, the world is happy. That and more was witnessed as the basketball fraternity celebrated International Women’s Day on Friday, March 8.

The organisers ensured that all age brackets were covered as the day started with rising stars before team managers took on the parliament team. It was a fun day that was crowned with the FUBA All Star Women game.

As many basketball enthusiasts came in to enjoy a dish of basketball, they were treated to a balanced diet that blended challenges, music, beverages and real business on the court.

Team Ageno secured the well-deserved 65-35 victory against Team Perus in the FUBA All Star Women’s game that was played at Lugogo Arena on Friday night.

It was a quick but low-scoring opening period as Team Ageno took a five-point lead (8-3) at the end of 10 minutes.

The second quarter was more electric as both sides scored double digits (17-13) though Team Perus was trailing by nine points at halftime.

At that juncture, as the crowd was still celebrating buckets flying from either side, Winnie Nwagi aka Fire Baby turned the tables upside down as her vibe and dancing strokes got the revellers onto their feet.

After the long but fun break, Team Ageno started sailing away from the prize as they created a 22-point lead (45-23) at the end of the third quarter.

In the final quarter of the showpiece, Martha Soigi and Tracy Namugosa combined for two long shots from downtown to seal the 25-point victory.
