• World Rugby HSBC 7s Challenger 2024 Montevideo – Quarterfinals
  • Result: Kenya 07-05 Uganda

Kenya has ended Uganda Men’s unbeaten run in the World Rugby HSBC 7s Challenger 2024 in Montevideo. They beat their East African neighbours, 07-05, and knocked them out of the Cup Quarterfinals.

Both teams scored a try in the match but Kenya’s penalty try earned them maximum points. Uganda’s try was scored by Philip Wokorach but he missed the conversion.

The score at half time, 07-05, stayed unchanged until the final whistle was blown, to the disappointment of the Ugandans and jubilation of the Kenyans.

Uganda had an opportunity to win the match in the last play, as they had done in previous matches, but the Kenyan defence was not to be breached this time.

Thus, Uganda dropped to the placement matches as their dream of making the top four cut eludes them again.

Uganda will play against Germany in the 5th place playoff at 10.59 p.m. EAT on Sunday. The two 7s Challenger rivals were the best two Cup Quarterfinal losers.
