Uganda Women have matched their 7s Challenger 2024 debut performance in Dubai by qualifying for the semifinals in the second round in Montevideo.
They beat Hong Kong China in the Cup Quarterfinal by 22-17 points. Hong Kong China led at the break but Uganda came back and forced a draw by full time.
The points were scored by Sandra Amoli Lona, Lydia Namabiro (2), and Grace Nabaggala (conversion).
During extra-time, both teams were reduced to six players. But it is Uganda that got the match-winning try through Agnes Nakuya.
Uganda will face China in the Cup Semifinals at 7.56 p.m. EAT on Sunday. China beat Uganda at this stage during the Dubai round and went on to win the Cup.
