Finals Day continued to be tough for Uganda Women at the World Rugby HSBC 7s Challenger 2024.

After winning 2/3 pool matches and a quarterfinal in two days, victory eluded them on the third day as they lost both the semifinal and the bronze medal match during the Montevideo round.

Belgium and China beat Uganda in similar fashion. Quick unanswered tries in the first half which put the match out of Uganda’s reach despite their response in the second half.

This can be attributed to conditioning and experience for three-day tournaments; the players are accustomed to two-day tournaments locally and on the continent. And to the quality and experience of opposition faced on the business end of the tournaments; top seed China have won both rounds.

Nonetheless, Uganda Women continue to impress on the series in their debut season. They have finished fourth in back-to-back tournaments and are ranked fourth in the overall standings.

There is one round left to play in Krakow, Poland in May and should they maintain this performance, they will get a chance to play for World Rugby SVNS qualification.
