There will also be a Corporate Sports Network Night every first Friday of the month to foster bonding in a more relaxed environment.
The corporate sports network, trading as Astra corporate sports network was created on January 13th 2024.
Ten days later, the brand was fully registered on January 24, 2024, following a meeting with various team managers representing 30 companies with the main objective of promoting productive corporate networks by bringing together staff of member companies to participate in various sports activities every month.
According to Corporate Sports Network’s First Chairman Mr. Simeon Kawuma, the Founder Members of this League realized the need for participating Companies to be actively involved in the running of the affairs of an entity that is befitting a corporate body.
“We are here to provide a unique opportunity for corporate companies to participate in purpose-built corporate sports programmes that will run throughout the year.” Kawuma revealed.
The Chairperson of the Corporate Social Network, Simeon Bulezi, noted that there has been a tremendous response from companies.
“We are excited about the commencement of the league. We are grateful for the companies that have confirmed participation in the 2024 league opener. We are
optimistic about more companies joining along the way. We are here to ensure that the pertinent needs of the participants are given priority. We are about accountability and ensuring that the expectations of participating members are met,” Bulenzi noted.
He explains that the corporate social network is big on the corporate social responsibility (CSR) front and will actively engage in projects that benefit the community.
The General Manager of Corporate Sports Network and head of the Secretariat Charles Ssempagala says that by participating in the games, companies leverage team building, branding (free exhibitions), and marketing and publicity opportunities.
For the individuals, they will gain fitness and bond while having fun. There will also be a Corporate Sports Network Night every first Friday of the month to foster bonding in a more relaxed environment.
The first outing is expected on Sunday, March 24, at Makerere University Business School (MUBS) at 9:00 a.m.
The outings will run for the next nine months and games will be held in various Venues as Mandela National Stadium, Makerere University Business School ( MUBS), Prisons Grounds – Luzira, Quality Chemicals Limited Luzira, Hotel Africana for Swimming and Pool as well as Kyaddondo Rugby Club.
The Games will be concluded by a Grand Dinner and awards ceremony in December 2024.
