BUL 0-1 UPDF
BUL missed an opportunity to climb to the top of the Uganda Premier League table after firing blanks in the 1-0 defeat to struggling UPDF.
Hussein Zzinda scored the only goal of the game as the hosts struggled in front of the home fans and also had striker Gerald Ogweti sent off on a day of frustration.
Zzinda headed home the winner in the 72nd minute with Farid Rashid mixing up Tom Ikara and his defender as he tried to make a connection on the ball that eluded all into the back of the net.
Seven minutes later, Ogweti received marching orders compounding BUL’s misery as their free flow in the second round of the league continues.
Defeat means UPDF who now have 16 points after 20 games move to 14th position, above 15th placed Busoga United on goal difference and complete a double over BUL for the first time since 2017.
Like BUL, UPDF also finished with a man less after Christopher Kamagu was sent off for two offences in a space of three minutes.
Abbey Kikomeko’s men remain second with 39 points, one behind table leaders Kitara with same number of games (20) at the moment.
BUL’s next game is on Friday against ‘title rivals’ SC Villa while UPDF will return to action on April 5 away to champions Vipers SC.
UPDF have now won successive games for the first time this season after a 2-0 win over Busoga United last week and here are the first three points on the road.
