By Sunday, 17th March 2024, Uganda had won a total of 9 medals. Of these are two golds, three silvers and bronzes apiece as well as InnocentTumusiime's yet to be identified medal.

As it stands, it will be gold, silver or bronze for Uganda’s boxer Innocent Tumusiime at the 13th African Games in Ghana, West Africa.

Tumusiime who features in the elite 46 kg – 48 kg minimum weight catergory made it to medal bracket after out-classing Lesotho’s Retselisitsoe Kolobe at Boukum boxing arena on Sunday.

The Ugandan fighter needed a first round knock-out to skid past the quarter final level and storm the semi-finals.

Another Ugandan in action, Innocent Amoko made it to the quarter finals in style with a knock out.

Amoko brought down Syechelles’ Darius Jovanie Antoine Bouzin during the round of 16 contest in the 60-63 light welter weight category.

Three quarter-finalists:

Amoko joined the duo of Khassim Murungi and Muzamiru Ssemuddu to the quarter finals.

Both Murungi and Ssemuddu had their respective bouts halted prematurely to avoid severe damage to the opposition at the Boukum sports arena.

Murungi needed a second round knock out victory over Liberian Williams.

Ssemuddu’s opponent, Holonue Akoussan was guarded from further punishment by the referee after the Ugandan had run riot.
