Ben Missaga Credit: John Batanudde

Overview:

Back in 2005, Misagga stood in an election with Fred Guy Kawuma and the latter withdrew at the last minute which would have meant that automatically he remains unopposed.

Former SC Villa President Immanuel Ben Misagga has dispelled reports that he has picked forms to stand for the club presidency in the forthcoming March 22 elections.

Speaking exclusively to Kawowo Sports, Misagga said he would stand if the process was transparent and cited reasons why he doesn’t believe in it.

“I can’t be party to an election process that is surely not transparent,” he started. “In the first place, the vetting committee has already shown partiality towards one candidate and no sane person,” he added.

Kawowo Sports understands that the Board of Trustees is the vetting committee but it’s chairperson Gerald Ssendaula has publicly campaigned for the incumbent Al Hajji Omar Mandela.

“It would be foolhardy to waste 100 million in a process like that and for that reason, I am not standing,” he confirmed.

He also denied picking forms through his agent as earlier confirmed by the club on its social media pages.

For now, Mandela, Farouq Meywa, Denis Mbidde Ssebugwawo and Simeon Buleezi Kawuma are waited to return the forms not later than March 7.

Misagga and Villa Presidency

Back in 2005, Misagga stood in an election with Fred Guy Kawuma and the latter withdrew at the last minute which would have meant that automatically he remains unopposed.

However, the club elders later nullified this and Franco Mugabe was reinstated again until around 2009 when Fred Muwema took over.

He finally got wish in 2014 when he became President until 2018 when he fell out with Fufa over what they termed as illegalities.

When Mandela assumed power in 2021, he appointed Misagga on his executive but the two fell out and he left the post just a year into it.
