• Uganda v Kenya Match Summary
  • Uganda 169/7
  • Kenya 97 all out
  • Uganda won by 72 runs

Cricket Cranes made light work of Kenya in their opener at the African Games, claiming a 72-run victory.

Uganda won the toss and elected to bat first and despite a shaky start, they were able to consolidate with opener Roger Mukasa (59) steading the ship. Dinesh Nakrani (43) and Cosmas Kyewuta (17) delivered some nasty blows to help the team finish on a par score of 169/7 in their 20 overs

Mukasa brought up 1000 T20i runs with his fourth T20i half-century and he becomes the third Ugandan batter to bring up 1000 T20 international runs.

In the run chase, Kenya got to a shaky start as well but as long as Rakeep Patel is still holding bat, he gives the team hope. He got stuck in and scored a stylish 42 off 35 balls before Bilal Hassun trapped him LBW. Rakeep’s departure triggered the collapse with the last six wickets only scoring 20 runs to finish on 97 all out inside 17 overs.

On his return to the line up, Cosmas Kyewuta made up for lost time with some lively pace going 1/12 in three overs.

Nakrani for his all rounder performance won the man of match award.

Uganda and South Africa picked up the wins in Group A as the race for group leader starts on a high. South Africa defeated hosts Ghana by 134 runs in a one sided win.
