Nathan Asiimwe revealed that it is a very proud moment to represent his motherland.
The 19-year-old defender was called into the Uganda Cranes fold as a late replacement to Allan Kyambadde who suffered an injury last week.
The soft-spoken defender shared with FUFA Media his joy and excitement before adding that it all came up as a surprise.
“It’s a proud moment for me and my family,” Asiimwe said with a bright smile.
“It was unexpected as well since I found out at the start of the week,” he added.

“I am looking forward to experiencing the changing environment as I have at Charlton my whole life and I have not really experienced anything like this before, so hopefully it goes well.”
“I am looking forward to training and helping the team in the matches as well. We have got good fixtures coming up so I’m just going to try and do my best like I always do,” he concluded.
Asiimwe was on the bench as his side Charlton Athletic FC shared spoils in a one-draw against Fleetwood in the English League one.
Charlton Athletic FC are placed 16th on the log with 45 points in 39 games.
In the friendly games, Uganda will play Comoros on Friday, March 22 before they take on Ghana four days later.
Both games will be played at Stade Grande Marrakech in Morocco.
