Uganda Women have exerted their authority over Tunisia in the first match of the Rugby 7s at the African Games 2023 in Accra, Ghana. They dominated in the opening quarter; scoring two tries through Grace Nabaggala and Lydia Namabiro.

For five minutes, Tunisia did not cross into Uganda’s half. Their first meaningful possession resulted in a try that cut the deficit to 10-07 just before half-time. That try would be their only points in the entire match.

The second half was a carbon copy, and better, of the first with Uganda camping in Tunisia’s territory. Peace Lekuru (2), Ritta Nadunga, Nabaggala, and Maimuna Nassozi scored five tries as Uganda took Tunisia to the cleaners.

The final score was a commanding 37-07 victory for Uganda. However, it was not a perfect performance as only one try was converted; by Nassozi. In a tournament where the winner will be determined by points and points difference, the extra two from kicks are crucial.

Uganda will play against Ghana in the next match at 2.30 p.m. EAT.
