Ghana Women threw the first punch in the match against Uganda when they scored the first try within a minute. A clean break from captain Paulina Mensah caught the Ugandan defense napping after kickoff. She converted the try to make it 07-00.

That seemed to ignite a fire in the Ugandan players who then went on to score eight unanswered tries in the match. Grace Auma, Juliet Nandawula, Lydia Namabiro (2), Grace Nabaggala, Agnes Nakuya, Peace Lekuru, and Maimuna Nassozi were the scorers.

Uganda played in their typical physical bulldozing fashion which Ghana were unable to handle as the match progressed. The latter’s chances were dealt a further blow when they were reduced to six players in the second half due to a red card for repeated infringement.

Coach Charles Onen’s charges have successfully registered their second victory on the day to top the standings with maximum points.
