Thursday presents another opportunity for Uganda to increase its medal tally at the ongoing African Games in Accra, Ghana.
Below is a list of athletes and teams that will be in action across different sports disciplines.
Athletics – University of Ghana Stadium
200m Heats – 12:25PM EAT
Women
Jacent Nyamuhunge will attempt to qualify for semifinals and eventually finals. She will compete in heat 1.
It should be noted that the semifinals will take place later in the day at 7:45PM EAT.
Men – 1PM EAT
Emmanuel Abodi, Allan Ngobi and Benson Okot will compete in the 200m heats in the men’s category.
The semifinals will come later in the day.
Women’s Long Jump – 7PM EAT
Winfred Atimango will be in action at 7PM EAT competing in the final of the Women’s long jump.
Women’s 1500m Heats – 8:40PM EAT
Fresh from winning silver in the 800m race, Halima Nakaayi will be hopong for more silverware at the African Games.
She will compete in the heats today alongside fellow countrywoman Knight Aciru.
The 1500m final will take place on Friday.
Men’s 1500m Heats – 9PM EAT
Abu Salim Mayanja and Ronald Musagala will compete in Heat 1 and 2 respectively, seeking for slots in tomorrow’s final.
Boxing – Bukom Boxing Arena
Muzamir Semuddu has a chance to go all the way and claim gold as he takes on Omar Elsayed from Egypt in the semifinals of the the men’s 71kg.
The bout will start at 12:00AM EAT (Midnight).
Cricket – Achimota Cricket Oval
Today, the Cricket Cranes will take on the Richelieu Eagles of Namibia in the first semifinal at African Games starting at 12:00PM EAT.
Uganda topped Group A with maximum points while Namibia finished second in Group B.
Women’s Football- Cape Coast Stadium
Uganda Queen Cranes will face Senegal in the battle for bronze at Cape Coast Stadium. The game will kickoff at 8PM EAT.
Rugby– University of Ghana Rugby Stadium
Women
After a perfect day one where Uganda defeated Tunisia and hosts Ghana, the target will be clinching gold.
There are two more games for the Ladies with Nigeria coming first at 2:44PM EAT and Madagascar at 5:50PM.
Men
The Men’s team have won all the four games played and need two more wins today to secure gold.
They take on minnows Benin at 2PM EAT before facing eternal rivals Kenya at 7:50PM EAT.
Basketball 3X3
The Men’s Basketball Team qualified for the quarterfinals which will be played today but information about their opponent and time is still scanty.
