Third Place Playoff
Uganda vs Senegal
Kickoff: 8PM EAT

Uganda U20 Women’s National Football Team will be seeking to leave Ghana with some piece of silverware as the Women’s Football Tournament at the African Games comes to a climax on Thursday at Cape Coast.

The third place playoff will be an opportunity for either Senegal or Uganda to earn the bronze medal while hosts Ghana will face Nigeria in the final.

Coach Sheryl Botes and her troops believe this is an opportunity to win something and cap off what has been a competitive tournament.

“We are ready and prepared for this match against Senegal. The tournament has been very competitive and my players have tried to give their best, winning a bronze medal would be befitting.” She said.

The coach is aware of what Senegal has in terms of approach to the game and indicated that they have tried to analyse them.

“We have tried to look at how they play, how they want to create 3v1 situations with their number eight being the link to the forwards. We have looked at the approach in general and hopefully, the players can execute what we have planned.” Botes added.

Phionah Nabulime who has played the entire tournament as a central defender believes the Queen Cranes are ready to face Senegal.

“We might be disappointed that we did not manage to reach the final but that is behind us now and we have shifted our focus to the game against Senegal. We know there is something to fight for and it is what we want to take home.” She said.

Left back Docus Lwalisa and midfielder Krusum Namutebi who missed the semifinal game against Nigeria through suspension are back and will be available for selection.
