Uganda Women have beaten Nigeria to guarantee at least a silver medal from Rugby 7s at the 13th African Games in Accra, Ghana.

Despite trailing in the match on two separate occasions, they won by 33-12 points. Grace Nabaggala, Lydia Namabiro (2), Grace Auma, and Racheal Mufuwa touched down for Uganda. Maimuna Nassozi kicked four conversions; the best success rate for Uganda in the tournament thus far.

Although Uganda is the lone unbeaten team, they are only two points ahead of second-placed Madagascar in the women’s standings.

Thus, for the gold medal, Uganda needs at least a losing bonus in their last match against Madagascar.
