Overview:

TP Mazembe will play record winners Al Ahly while Esperance face Denis Onyango's Mamelodi Sundowns

Results

  • Petro Atletico 1-2 TP Mazembe [Agg: 1-2]
  • ASEC Mimosas 0-0 Esperance [Agg: 0-0, Esperance win 4-2 on pen]

Former winners TP Mazembe and Esperance secured their spots in the semi-finals after wins over Petro Atletico and ASEC Mimosas respectively.

Mazembe picked a 2-1 win away in Luanda to win the tie by the same aggregate score following a goalless draw in the first leg seven days ago.

They had to do it the hard way after going behind in the 29th minute through a well taken strike by danger man Jonathan Toro.

But with eight minutes to full time, Phillipe Kizumbi silenced the ecstatic home crowd with a leveller before Joel Beya sealed the come back with a winner in additional time.

TP Mazembe will now face record champions Al Ahly in the last four with the Egyptian side eliminating Tanzania’s Simba 3-0 on aggregate.

For four-time winners Esperance, they needed a perfect penalty shootout to edge ASEC Mimosa.

The two sides played to a score less draw over the two legs before Esperance goalie saved two penalties to hand his side a deserved 4-2 win that sets them up against Denis Onyango’s Mamelodi Sundowns in the semis.
