The USSSA Kampala Regional Qualifiers roll into the semifinals stage after successful completion of the grueling group stage action.
The semifinal stage will see four schools matchup as they continue to seek glory to lift the region’s title ahead of the Nationals that will be happening later this year.
All the semifinalists will represent Kampala Region in the USSSA Nationals that will be hosted at Masaka Secondary School in Masaka.
Kawempe Muslim will take on Uganda Martyrs in the first semifinal encounter before Kakungulu Memorial locks horns with Kibuli SS.
Among the four sides, Kakungulu Memorial returns to the Nationals after a while. This was achieved after a thrilling 9-0 victory against Lakeside School to finish second in Group B with nine points.
In the four games played, Kakungulu Memorial won three games and lost one. They also scored 15 goals and conceded only three before setting up a matchup with Kibuli in the semifinal.
It was a tight contest in Group B as Uganda Martyrs edged Old Kampala to finish in the best four by just a goal. Both sides finished the group stages with only six points but Uganda Martyrs scored seven and conceded three (+4) while Old Kampala scored eight and conceded five (+3).
In all the teams in the region, Kawempe Muslim has looked the better side. They managed to win all group games claiming 12 points, scoring 12 goals, and conceding only two.
They will be hoping to carry the form into the semifinals so that they can dethrone Kampala Region champions Kibuli SS.
The semifinals will be played at Kibuli SS playgrounds on Friday, April 12, 2024.
