St Julian High School, Mukono concluded the group stage level with a 1-0 victory against St Maliko High School in the ongoing 2024 USSSA Games at Masaka Recreation Center.

Simon Wanyama’s lonely strike awarded St Julian maximum points to finish the group with seven points in three games played.

The forward has been instrumental in St Julian’s journey having scored in each game that they have played thus far.

In the opening game he scored a hat trick against St Kaggwa, his only goal salvaged a point against Paidha before giving the team victory in the last group game.

Felix Kawooya Ssekabuza, head coach for St Julian attributed the achievement to collective effort of everyone attached to the team.

“I am glad that we have reached this far. However we have managed that because everyone has put in a shift to see that we attain glory,” he started.

“Starting from the school management, my fellow coaches and the players everyone has done their part to see that we attain the first target of qualifying for the knockout stage,” he added.

St Juliana, Mukono are playing the nationals for the first time lifting the trophy of Mukono Zone.

They are partners of Rays of Grace Academy that has helped the players keep in a group for while and that is a testament to the fact that they play good football amidst being at the grand stage for the first time.

Ssekabuza works alongside Micheal Kabali (assistant coach), Jamadah Magaasi (goalkeeping coach) and Swaib Mbuga (team manager).
