Uganda's Para Powerlifting delegation in Thailand

The team traveled from Entebbe International Airport via Air Arabia with a stop-over in Dubai before connecting to Bangkok city and linked to Pattaya city, two hours later via road.

Uganda’s Para Powerlifting delegation to Thailand for the Pattaya World Cup 2024 arrived safely on Tuesday night.

The trio of Dennis Mbazira, Safalu Tamale and Muhammed Nigo along with the head coach Kenneth Ssekilanda are optimistic about a great performance at the games.

“We traveled well to Thailand and everyone is in the best shape to compete. We are more than ready to compete than merely participate” Ssekilanda noted.

Mbazira will compete in the 88 Kg weight category, whilst Safalu and Nigo will take part in the 80 Kg weight cluster.

The Pattaya World Cup 2024 is a World Para Powerlifting championship due in Thailand on 8th to 11th May 2024.

This event is also a key qualifier for the Paris Paralympic Games (28th August to 8th September 2024) in Paris city, France.

After the event in Thailand, there will be two more events in Mexico and Georgia before the main Paralympic Games.

The Parapan American World cup will take place between 23rd to 26th May 2024 in Acapulco city, Mexico.

The last championship before the Paralympics will be the Tbilisi World Cup (20th to 26th June 2024) in Georgia.
