In preparation for the new season of the 2024 Uganda Handball League, Police women handball club has beefed up their squad with a couple of tried and tested talented players.

The ceremony to usher in the new players as well as the kit for the season was held at GNS plaza hotel in Old Kampala on Friday, 17th May 2024.

New signings:

The league reigning champions have a couple of new players on board. These include the vastly experienced Lilian Achola, Patience Tukamushaba, Patricia Arago, Shakirah Bako, Shamim Kakai and goalkeeper Amina Ajema.

Bringing in these new players has been a tremendous boost for our team. Their skill sets, work ethic, and attitude both on and off the field are exceptional. No doubt they will seamlessly integrate into our system and their immediate impact is evident already even in training. Police is a top club therefore we are very strategic with our recruitment and only bring in players that we believe fit best in the club philosophy.

Old guards:

The old players maintained on the team include goalkeepers Sarah Birungi and Beatrice Achayo.

The others are; Dorren Ondoa, Cynthia Akinyi, Stella Akongo, Diana Nakamya, Royce Namutosi, Amina Namagembe, Jesca Nakamanya, Faridah Namusisi, Shakira Nagadya and Teopista Nalubega.

Technical team:

Ismail Ahmed Ali is the team manager. Aziz Yakub is head coach working alongside Faridah Kisitu.

Juliet Namuyomba is the club secretary with Noelin Nabayaza as the team manager as Nulu Naume, the in charge of equipment.

The club also unveiled the new jersey that will be used for the 2024 season which is ear-marked to throw off on 1st June.

This jersey is branded on the fore-front with Eco-Pads, the financiers of the kit who are Police’s long term partner.

We thank Eco Pads for officially coming on board as our sponsor for the kits. We invite more partners we can work with to grow their brands together. Police women handball club targets the league, clubs’ cup and the inter-forces cup this season.

Meanwhile, the male team for Police handball club is also taking shape ahead of the virgin season.

The annual Police handball open has also been revived and confirmed for the 29th to 30th June 2024 at the Police handball courts in Kibuli, Kampala.
