Kenya’s Legends by Nondies concluded their second tour of Uganda on the weekend. They held a training session (captain’s run) with pupils from Kazinga Community School on Friday afternoon, played a match against Uganda Rugby veterans on Saturday evening, and made merry through the night.

The highlight was the match which they won, 25-15, at Kings Park in Bweyogerere. This brings them to three successive victories over Uganda rugby veterans since the first tour in 2023.

However, Uganda rugby veterans, whose assembly of such nature is just a year old, have made incredible progress in catching up with their seniors from across the border. They did not score a try in the first match in May and bagged two during the second four months later.

With the support of youthful players still active locally, the vets, as they are known within their circles, cut the deficit to Legends by Nondies further in the first tour of 2024.

Past Results of Veterans & Legends matches:

  1. May 2023 (Kampala): Uganda 06-38 Kenya
  2. September 2023 (Nairobi): Kenya 31-12 Uganda
  3. June 2024 (Kampala): Uganda 15-25 Kenya

The Kenya Legends by Nondies was formally assembled as a first-of-its-kind franchise two years earlier. Unlike their Ugandan counterparts, Legends by Nondies are active throughout the year and regularly participate in the Dubai 7s festivals.
