A bulk of the players who won the 2019 CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup will make the provisional squad for Chan

The Council for East and Central Africa Football (CECAFA) has announced cancellation of the 2024 Senior Challenge Cup.

The tournament, played by senior national Men’s teams was meant to take place starting late June until July 14 this year.

However, a communique from the secretariat confirmed cancellation to give players more time to prepare for the CECAFA Kagame Cup.

“The CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup 2024 which was meant to open the CECAFA calendar from June 29th to July 14th has also been cancelled to give players more time to prepare with their teams ahead of the CECAFA Kagame Cup.”

The tournament hasn’t been held since 2019 when Uganda won it in Kampala.

  1. A real shame. I was really looking forward to the CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup returning this year. I hope it returns next year at least.
