Bob Trubish, the chairman of Pool Association of Uganda (PAU) tags the partnership with Nile Breweries Limited as a “landmark” that will help showcase the potential of Ugandan pool to the entire country.

The 2024 Nile special national pool league is expected to lure clubs from the different districts of the country.

A new crop of skilled players from across the regions of the country is envisaged as a gloss to unearth fresh talented players on board.

The league sponsorship is part of the Ug.Shs 1 billion package from Nile Breweries Limited under their leading brand, Nile Special.

Also, this package has the Nile Special National pool open championship.

The league cues off in July for round one and round two will start by November before the awards ceremony in January 2025.

“This partnership with Nile Special is a landmark achievement for Ugandan pool.” Trubish noted.

“Nile Breweries’ substantial investment will have a profound impact on the sport. The financial support, along with the innovative initiatives like club facilitation and live streaming, will create a more vibrant and competitive environment for our players. We are thrilled to embark on this journey with Nile Special and showcase the best of Ugandan pool to the nation, the continent and wider world.” He added.

For starters, every club will have a facilitation of at least Ug.Shs 3 million to allow adequate preparations.

Douglas Karema, the Trade Marketing Executive at Nile Breweries is proud of the lengthy relations between the pool association of Uganda and the beer manfacturers.

“Nile Breweries Limited is incredibly excited to continue our long-standing partnership with the Pool Association of Uganda (PAU)” Karema hinted.

We are confident that this investment will not only elevate the national open and national league but will also empower both players and clubs.” Karema added.

The league will be played concurrently with the Nile Special National Pool Open championship qualifiers.

Next Media Group with the NBS Sport channel is the official media partner and will relay the proceedings from both the national league and open.
