On their way to the final, Uganda had topped Pool B on the opening day. Then they overcame a tricky Côte d’Ivoire in the Cup Quarterfinal by 15-10 points before sweeping South Africa by 12-00 in the Cup Semifinal.

The match against South Africa is when Uganda came to life and made the home run to the final.

The Cup Final victory means they top the rankings table with twenty points ahead of Madagascar and South Africa on the podium.

Pools for the second round will be drawn later this week.
