Ssingo Ssaza (Mityana) has hosted the second leg of the 2024 Buganda Kingdom Masaza Cycling championship on Sunday, 7th July.
Like the case was during the opening leg in Bulemeezi (Luweero), the cyclists were involved in both the road and ordinary bikes over varying distances.
Bulemeezi won the men road bikes race whilst Bugerere won the ladies’ cluster.
In the ordinary bikes, Buddu and Bugerere were first and second for the men and women respectively.

Individual top performers:
Aziz Ssempijja of Bulemeezi won the men road bike race with a timing of 1:41:04 over a distance of 72 KM.
“Training helped me perform well and I thank my manager for securing that I have a good bike.” Ssempijja spoke after his victory.

He was faster than Busiro’s Mbaziira Mwanawatu (1:41:56) and Arafat Kimuli (1:41:58) of Bulemeezi Ssaza.
For road bike women race, a total distance of 54 KM was covered with Kevin Nakato of Bugerere coming top with a time of 1:40:18.
In the second place was Buddu’s Flavia Nakagwa (1:44:00) whilst Kyaggwe’s Brendah Sikoya (1:48:31) finished third.

Ordinary bikes men:
Buddu’s Yahaya Kivumbi covered the 63 KM for ordinary bikes in 2:31:20 to topple the rest of the cyclists.
In second place was Bulemeezi’s Hassan Kato (2:31:23) and another Bulemeezi cyclist Ronald Kisiriko (2:31:26) came third.

Ordinary Bikes Women (36 KM):
Shaluwah Bamukobeire (1:24:09) of Bugerere came top in the 36 KM ordinary bikes for the women ahead of Shanitah Mukyeyaya (1:25:06) of Bugerere.
Men participated in 72km and 63km using the road and Ordinary bikes respectively.
The Buganda Kingdom minister of sports, youth and art Owek. Robert Sserwanga presented the top performers with medals, trophies and cash.

Owek Sserwanga lauded all the cyclists for the brevity, determination, passion and courage to compete.
“In a special way, I would love to thank all the cyclists who have participated and competed. The best prepared smiled home with victory. The Kabaka (His Majesty Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II) gives equal opportunity to all people willing to take part in the cycling event.” Owek. Sserwanga remarked.
In total, 85 cyclists competed during this second leg in both road and ordinary bikes categories.
