SC Villa have been drawn against Ethiopia Premier League champions, Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) in the preliminary round of the TotalEnergies Caf Champions League.
This was after the draw held in Cairo on Thursday July 11, 2024 at the Caf headquarters.
The 17-time Uganda Premier League winners will host the first leg before travelling to Addis with the first preliminary round fixtures set to be played between 16th -18th August 2024 (first leg) and 23rd -25th August 2024 (return leg).
Should they overcome the Ethiopians, they will face either last season’s semi-finalists and regional rivals Young Africans of Tanzania or Burundi’s Vital’O.
The winner of the second preliminary round will then progress to the lucrative group stages of the continent’s biggest club competition.
Only two Ugandan clubs; KCCA and Vipers have played at the group stages of the competition in the new format.
However, SC Villa played the finals of the old fashioned competition in the early 90s.
