The 2024 Jinja Cantonment Commander’s football championship successfully climaxed at the Gadaffi Arena.

Non-Commissioned Officers Academy (NCOA) emerged victorious in the six-team event targeted to select one strong Cantonment side that will compete at the 16th edition of the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) cup.

NCOA overcame Uganda Rapid Deployment Center (URDC) 1-0 during the final.

To advance to the final, NCOA had defeated Defence Forces Institute of Health Sciences (DFIHS) 2-0 in the semi-final.

On the other hand, URDC overcame Cantonment 4-2 during the second semi-final.

Format of play:

This tournament was first played in two groups before the four teams advanced to the semi-final contest.

Pool A had Cantoment, NCOA and Junior Staff College (JSC) teams.

NCOA came top with six points, CANT had three points and JSC was pointless.

In group B; Uganda Rapid Deployment Center (URDC), School of Supplies and Transport (SOST) and Defence Forces Institute of Health Sciences (DFIHS) constituted the teams.

The log leader was URDC with four points, DFIHS also had four points and SOST did not yield any point.

The closing ceremony was witnessed by Brig. General Emmanuel Kanyesigye, the Jinja Cantonment Commander.

The Brig. General lauded the different units commanders, organizing committee, coaches and players for the coordinal cooperation to have such a successful tournament.

“I thank the units commanders for the support put in since the tournament kicked off. I also appreciate the organizing committee and finally the participants for seeing off such a successful event” Brig General Kanyesigye remarked.

A solid team was selected and will start preparation for the CDF Cup.

He promised a bull is the select team successfully manages to win the CDF cup.
