Active Fitness Taekwondo hoist their trophy

The 2024 ITF Heroes Cup was used to observe on players that are expected to represent Uganda at East Africa championship that is set to take place in late August.

2024 ITF Heroes Cup (Taekwondo)

  • Champions: Active Fitness Club – 482 Points (34 Gold, 20 Silver, 14 Bronze)
  • Runners up: Uganda Prisons Club – 143 Points (10 Gold, 10 Silver, 6 Bronze)
  • 2nd Runners up: Tororo Taekwondo Club – 60 Points (6 Gold, 2 Silver)
  • 4th: Sharing Club – 28 points (2 Gold, 1 Silver, 1 Bronze)
  • 5th: UCU Mbale – 2 Silver, 2 Bronze

Active Fitness club won the 2024 ITF Heroes Taekwondo cup at Pearl School, Kabalagala in Kampala.

The Kitgum based club overcame the closest challengers Uganda Prisons Taekwondo club.

They amassed a total of 482 points, a difference of 339 from the second placed side.

The club which won the same event last year’s reached the milestone with 34 gold, 20 Silver and 14 bronze medals both at the junior and senior competitions.

After outshining all teams at the event, Active Fitness club head coach Robinson Okello pointed out the factors that propelled his team to the success.

“We started our preparations early for this tournament. We have many players. Some are in schools so we have been working together with school to fix some times for training” Okello remarked.

Uganda Prisons only had representation at senior, fetching a total of 143 points with 10 gold, 10 Silver and 6 bronze.

Tororo Taekwondo club finished third with 60 pts getting compiled from 6 Gold and 2 silver medals.

Sharing 28 points (2 gold, 1 Silver and 1 bronze) and UCU Mbale finished fifth with a 2 Silver medals and bronze.

The competition had more four teams that had no zero in terms of medals.

The event was used to observe on players that are expected to represent Uganda at East Africa championship that is set to take place in late August.

David Owori, the International Taekwondo Federation President in Uganda confirmed on the spot of the players.

It has been an outstanding two days event which had 9 teams and AFC has proved too strong, besides it helped us to observe around 30 players which we expect to take to Zanzibar for East Africa nations championship, Uganda will compete with 6 teams after that there will be a World cup in Argentina but Uganda we will stop at East Africa due to finances.
