There was a major positive as Ugandan swimmer Anna Gloria Muzito took to the waters at the Paris La Defense Arena during the 100m Freestyle race in the ongoing Paris 2024 Olympics.

Muzito posted 55:95 in a speedy race won by Hong Kong swimmer Siobhan Bernadette Haughey with 53:02 during Heat 4.

The US-based swimmer improved her personal best time from 56:01.

Her performance on the day was not good enough to see her progress to the semifinals; but, she remains optimistic of further improvements in the upcoming races.

In Heat 3, Mollie O’Callaghan won with a timing of 53:27 whilst Swedish national Sarah Sjostrom took Heat 2 with 52:99, the fastest time among all the heats.

Zimbabwe Paige Van der Westhuizen was outstanding in Heat 1 with a time of 58:19.

Uganda’s other swimmer Jesse Ssengonzi is also yet to compete.

Besides swimming, Uganda is also represented in Rowing, Cycling and athletics at the ongoing Olympics.

Medal Tally so far:

By Tuesday evening, Japan had secured 7 gold medals, 2 silver and 4 bronze.

China follows with 6 gold medals, 6 silver and 2 bronze.

Hosts France is number three with 5 gold, 8 silver and 4 bronze.
