Uganda lacrosse team in action at the 2023 World championships

Overview:

St Mary's High School Zirobwe, Kinawa High School, Kigezi High School – Kabale, Bombo Army Boarding School, St John's SS Nandere and Empower Christian International School are among the male category teams for Lacrosse. The girls teams include; Nabisunsa Girls High School, Mariam High School, Muzza High School, Kigezi High School – Kabale, Bombo Army Boarding School, Lowell Girls High School, St John's SS Nandere, Empower Christian International School, Mt St Mary's Namagunga, St Mary's High School Zirobwe and Kinawa High School.

The Uganda Lacrosse Association (ULA) has confirmed a total of 17 teams that will play at the 2024 USSSA championship at Teso College Aloet between 1st and 9th September.

Of these; 11 are female teams and 6 are male.

The male teams include; St Mary’s High School Zirobwe, Kinawa High School, Kigezi High School – Kabale, Bombo Army Boarding School, St John’s SS Nandere and Empower Christian International School.

The girls teams include; Nabisunsa Girls High School, Mariam High School, Muzza High School, Kigezi High School – Kabale, Bombo Army Boarding School, Lowell Girls High School, St John’s SS Nandere, Empower Christian International School, Mt St Mary’s Namagunga, St Mary’s High School Zirobwe and Kinawa High School.

Liberty Twesiime, President of Uganda Lacrosse Association

Liberty Twesiime, Uganda Lacrosse Association President envisages this championship as platform to prepare for the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles, United States of America (USA).

“Our main target is to spread the game countrywide further as we go to the 2028 Olympics as a competitive sport after 120 years” Twesiime states.

A bulk of the current players in schools now features for different clubs in the Lacrosse national league that was won by Blink Kobs in 2024.

Lacrosse debuted at the USSSA Games last year in Kabale.

The USSSA non-FEASSSA qualifiers will be held between 1st to 9th September 2024 in Teso region.
