Avengers Rugby Club successfully defended their Kyadondo 7s crown. They beat Black Pearls in the second successive women’s Cup Final by 21-12 points.

Not only did Avengers lift the magnificent trophy – a metal cast depicting an eagle (thunderbird) lifting a rugby ball with its feet – but they also overtook Black Pearls in the overall standings.

Thunderbirds, the hosts of an entertaining and historic tournament, settled yet again for bronze.

In the men’s competition, Black Pirates overcame two home teams to reclaim the Kyadondo 7s title. The Sea Robbers needed a late extra time try to beat Heathens, 17-12, in the Cup Final.

KOBs clinched their first bronze medal finish of the series while Impis got their first double-digit points.

Like fellow victors Avengers, Black Pirates claimed back-to-back Cup Finals in the 2024 series to go top of the overall standings.

The 2024 Nile Special 7s Series now takes its first break. The next circuit, Gulu 7s, will be played on September 7-8 at the Pece War Memorial Stadium.
