Besides football the main sport which is dominant in the Acholi Quarters, the other sports disciplines include; Rugby, Netball, Athletics and now American Football.

In an endeavor to encourage children and early teens learn and interest themselves in the game of American Football, the United States of America (USA) National Football League (NFL) donated an assortment of sports gear for the sport of American Football to the Aliguma Foundation.

Among the donated equipment included balls, flags, coaches’ module books and other items used in this sport.

In return, The Aliguma Foundation handed over the donated equipment to children in the Acholi Quarters, Banda in Kampala.

“These items will further help in the development process of witnessing the growth of American Football in Acholi Quarters, the rest of Kampala and the entire country as a whole” Ritah Aliguma, founder and CEO of The Aliguma Foundation revealed.

Presently, the American Football team in the Acholi quarters is handled by Roma Chamerone Mwesigwa and a female coach, Diana Kawala.

Besides football the main sport which is dominant in the Acholi Quarters, the other sports disciplines include; Rugby, Netball, Athletics and now American Football.

For starters, The Aliguma Foundation has established firm roots in the famous Acholi quarters with a number of empowerment projects for the children and their parents.

Such projects include skilling programs for making of crafts and other arts to promote economic empowerment of the parents, particularly the single mothers.

The Aliguma Foundation also fronts the education of these children with bursary schemes for these under-privileged children in different schools.  This foundation also has wings in Masindi and other places in the country.
