The hosts (Taibah International School) and Bethel Covenent College each won three trophies with Vikas International School claiming the other trophy at stake.
4th Taibah Annual Independence Sports Tournament

The prime objectives of the fourth edition of the Taibah Independence Sports Tournament were boldly attained.
Networking between students from the different schools, room for talent identification, enjoyment and fun characterized this tournament.
The tournament which lured as many as seven schools was officially climaxed on Saturday, 5th October 2024 at the Taibah International School playgrounds.




Competitors engaged in four different sports disciplines; Football (U-15 and U-20), Basketball, Volleyball and Netball.
The hosts (Taibah International School) and Bethel Covenent College each won three trophies with Vikas International School claiming the other trophy at stake.
Taibah International School triumphed in the football boys’ U-15 and U-20 with success also coming in the Basketball girls’ event.

Bethel Covenant College was red-hot in Netball as well as U-15 and U-20 basketball for boys.
Vikas International School was successful in the Volleyball boys’ event.
We are humbled by all the different participating schools in the fourth edition of the Taibah Independence sports tournament. It takes a lot of sacrifice for the investment in resources, transportation. The skills seen in the different games clearly show that there was time and energy invested in preparing for this tournament. I would also like to thank the games masters, match officials, commissioners and players for the job well done.

Each of the participating schools received a certificate of participation, there were medals for the individual top performers per sport, medals for the top two teams and trophies as well.
Individual top performers:
Out of the 36 individual trophies for the excelling sports personalities, Taibah International School scooped 18, the lion’s share.


Football U-20:
David Mpyangu (Taibah) was most valuable player with Elijah Rusa taking the top scorer gong.
Rusa scored one of the two goals for Taibah in their 2-1 victory over GreenHill Academy in the well contested finale.
Another Taibah crop, Emmanuel Osuta was outstanding defender, Rajab Nsubuga was best goalkeeper and Rodney Erone was best midfielder to complete Taibah’s clean sweep.




Football U-15:
This section, Taibah International school scooped five awards; Luke Lumu (Taibah) was MVP, Benji Ssuna finished as top scorer, Jimmy Tumusiime (best defender), Robert Agaba (best goalkeeper) and Malcom Nangono was best midfielder.
Vikas International School’s Henos Kiflom was the outstanding upcoming talent.
Basketball U-20:
Majok Atem (Bethel Covenant College) was the most valuable player. Other Bethel Covenant College shining players were Ruot Riak (top scorer), Majok Gatluak (best rebounder) and Bol Abech (best defender).
Ibrahim Waibi (Light Academy) was most disciplined.




Basketball U-15:
Joshua Tumwebaze (Bethel) was MVP for the U-15 boy’s basketball. Chol Wai (Bethel) was top scorer, Gatluak Majok (Bethel) was best rebounder, Nathan Kikomeko (Bethel) was best defender as Adonai Nezareb (Vikas International School) was most disciplined player.


Basketball Girls:
Taibah International School scooped all the five individual accolades in girls’ basketball.
Hailey Nassuna (MVP and Top scorer), Tanisha Rakama (top scorer), Wilma Charles (best defender) and Emmanuella was most disciplined.

Volleyball:
Trevor Ahumuza (Bethel) was most valuable player. The best power attacker was Sunday Makur, Vikas’ Kisanet Zeregabor was best libro, Ainamaani Joanes Paulus was best setter whiler Taibah’s Ashaba Quiana was most disciplined.
Netball:
Taibah International School’s Tamzeen Nabateregga was MVP. Irene Nuwagaba of Bethel was best defender, Zainab Namutebi (Ubayyi International) was best centre, Christine Namatovu (Bethel) was top scorer whilst Nicole Kinobe (Taibah International School) was most disciplined.


Key strategic as Taibah International School (the biggest stakeholders) AAR Health Care, dfcu Bank, SWT, LSMO and the media ensured the smooth transition of the tournament.
The hosts Taibah International School were joined by Bethel Covenant College, Turkish Light Academy, Ubbayyi Islamic Secondary School Akright, Victorian High School, Vikas International School and Green Hill Academy.
Success stories:
Since inception, the Taibah Annual Independence sports tournament has witnessed the drastic growth and evolution of talents sportsmen across the horizon.
A number of players are now playing in semi-professional and professional entities in Uganda and beyond.
Taibah International School’s trio of footballers Brilliant Aheebwa, Elijah Kynan Leon and Isingoma Bagambe are now in the United Arab Emirates with Gulf United Football Club.
Another footballer from Taibah International School Mark Ssali is now in South Africa.
Bethel Covenant College’s basketball players Deng Lual Aguek, Monydeng Malual and Bith Kuon Yaom are currently at California Renaissance Academy in the United States of America (USA).
Netballer Mitchell Nalwoga from Bethel Covenant College is at Victoria University in Uganda.
