Kickboxers in action during the late Hassan Ssekilime memorial tournament at the Kisaasi church of Uganda Gardens

Overview:

The Hassan Ssekilime memorial kickboxing event was organized by Uganda Kickboxing Federation (UKF) who look forward a couple of upcoming local, continental and international fights.

The Uganda Kickboxing fraternity held a successful championship at the Kisaasi church of Uganda Gardens, Kampala on 9th October 2024 (Independence Day).

This championship was in commemoration of the last Hassan Ssekilime who died in 2018.

Ssekilime had been president of Uganda Kickboxing Federation for two terms since 2020.

Gilbert Balondemu celebrates his victory over Farouk Ogwal

There were twenty-four bouts in total with Gilbert Balondemu’s first round knockout over Lira based Farouk Ogwal one of the key highlights.

In the main fight, Uganda’s Michael Ngabo easily won over Kenyan Messiah Okuku with a second-round knockout.

The family of the deceased was ably represented by Nsabu Ssebulime, a brother to the late who traveled from the United States of America (USA).

Alphonce Wanzallah Kaka, the president of Kenya Kickboxing Federation was also present and was the chief guest at this event.

I thank the different players and stake holders who attended the Independence day kickboxing competition in Kisaasi. This was in honour of the former president of Uganda Kickboxing Federation Hassan Ssekilime for the great deeds and service to kickboxing and the general sports fraternity.
