Islamic University In Uganda (IUIU) held the reigning champions of the Pepsi University Football League, Nkumba University to a goal-less draw in Mbale city.

The group A contest witnessed end-to-end attacking football from the two sides with solid defending.

Nkumba University was playing their second game of the campaign, having won their opener 2-0 at home over ISBAT University.

The Beach Boys have now accumulated four points, same as IUIU with Nkumba University leading via a goal advantage.

Busitema University who beat ISBAT University 1-0 at Muteesa II Wankulukuku stadium is third with three points and ISBAT University is yet to win a game.

We shall build on this point. As a winning team, we needed maximum points but shall take the point earned away from home.

It is an irreversible fact that it was a very hard game playing against the defending champions. First half was not very good but returned better in the second half. We were just unfortunate that we were not able to convert. We face ISBAT University on the 23rd October 2024 and we hope to win before our home fans.

Meanwhile, Makerere University leads group B, St Lawrence University is ahead in group C, Gulu University stands top in group D, Uganda Martyrs University (UMU) Nkozi is ahead in group E and MUBS leads group F.

On Tuesday, 15th October 2024; Ndejje University will face Victoria University in Ndejje.

On the following day, YMCA locks horns against St Lawrence University at Buwambo.
