Kenya Simbas have maintained their strong grip on the Elgon Cup by beating Uganda Rugby Cranes, 21-05, at Kings Park, Bweyogerere on a rainy Saturday evening.

The Simbas scored three unanswered tries within twenty-five minutes after kickoff in a systematic destruction of the Rugby Cranes. Ephraim Odour, Eugene Sifuna, and Andycole Omolo’s tries were nearly identical; built-up from patient power forward carries towards the poles.

The Rugby Cranes woke up in the second half but it was too little too late. They denied the Simbas any more scoring opportunities but failed to get their own, save for a Sydney Gongodyo consolation try in the last play.

It was such a shockingly abysmal performance by the Rugby Cranes in front of their home fans that, for some moments during the match, the stands fell silent.

Kenya won the 2024 Elgon Cup by an aggregate score of 48-30 points. This is their fourteenth title in the competition’s twenty-year history.
