A bingo card is a 5×5 grid used in the game of ‘BINGO’. The twenty-five squares in the grid contain a list of likely, possible, and/or expected scenarios within a specific scope. To win/complete the bingo card, one must cross out five squares in one direction – horizontal, vertical, or diagonal.

As we prepare for the official start of the 2025 Uganda Rugby Union calendar, I have drawn my bingo card with scenarios I expect to occur this year.

Some are low-hanging fruit, like Uganda Rugby Union postponing the start of a tournament, the Honourable Secretary publishing yet-another statement, and coaches Tolbert Onyango & Charles Onen summoning players from their clubs for 7s national team training.

Others are streaks which will continue this year, like no team maintaining an unbeaten run in the full season, all teams in all XVs competitions winning at least one match in the full season, and our very own Kawowo Production crew arriving late at the match venue for a live broadcast.

Others are challenges in which I am trying to see wild dreams come to life, like a team scoring over 100 points in a match, a match venue offering free entrance to all fans, or the try-scoring record held by Puis Ogena, Justin Kimono, and Allan Musoke getting broken.

This is my bingo card for the 2025 Uganda Rugby calendar year. By the end of the year, I hope to have crossed as many squares as possible and completed at least one row, column or diagonal.
