51st Stanbic Uganda Cup (Round of 64)

Sunday, 12th January 2025 (All matches kick off at 3 PM)

The 51st Stanbic Uganda Cup round of 64 stage continues with three matches on Sunday, 12th January 2025.

Cup holders Kitara will play Buganda regional side Young Simba (a third division club) at the Bombo Military Barracks stadium.

Kitara head coach Richard Wasswa Bbosa is keen to kick off their cup defence with a routine victory, but aware of the threat posed by the opponents.

“We are the holders of this Cup and therefore know the importance of having a good start in Bombo. We also know our opponents will give an account of themselves because they are home. However, we are well motivated and confident that we will go further” Bbosa was quoted by the club website.

Left footed winger Living Kabon and stylish midfielder Frank Tumwesigye are part of the team after missing their previous league duel.

The duo joins a star-studded side that also has Patrick Kaddu, Marvin Nyanzi, George Senkaaba, Fred Amaku, Arthur Kiggundu, Maxwell Owadigu, Rogers Mugisha and Titus Ssematimba, among others.

Kitara will miss the services of Denis Omedi who transferred to Rwandese side APR; and most likely the players with the CHAN team in Uganda Cranes’ training (Jude Ssemugabi and goalkeeper Chrispas Kusiima).

Paddy Muhumuza, Frank “Walcot” Yiga and Douglas Oyirwoth are also missing in action.

Team Young Simba has the likes of Robert Ssewanyana and Kenneth Sebabbduka who has scored the most goals combined for the club in the Buganda regional league (Katonga group).

Already at the round of 32 are Vipers, NEC and Packwach Young Stars.

Vipers eliminated Tepa 2-1 in Ngora, NEC bundled out UCU Mbale 4-0 at Mbale city stadium and Pakwach Young Stars ejected Kigezi Home Boyz 3-0 in Pakwach.
