Jinja Hippos picked their second win in as many games of the 2025 Uganda Rugby Premiership after coming from down to beat Victoria Sharks 20-13 on Saturday at Kyadondo.

It was a game of two halves with the league newcomers having the upper hand in the opening forty minutes and Hippos taking charge in the second half.

Isreal Makokha put the Sharks on the scoreboard with a penalty inside three minutes but Aziz Bagalana responded in equal measure at the opposite end.

Makokha who was the star of the show for the Sharks split the uprights again but it was Hippos that crossed the white chalk first, thanks to winger Meddy Baglana.

The Kenyan utility back who played outside centre on the day converted his own try and the Sharks led 13-08 at the break.

Yasin Wasswa who took over Hippos’ kicking duties missed a penalty early in the second half but the pressure piled on the hosts would later pay off as eighthman David Wako powered over with Wasswa adding extras.

From that point, Hippos socked all the pressure from the Sharks at the scrum and disrupted the lineouts with Charles Uhuru barely making any clean takes.

With barely two minutes to play, Ayman Bagalana caught Sharks defence napping and ran through to seal the win for Hippos.
