Overview:
Six cities and nine stadiums have been selected for Africa’s flagship football tournament, which will run from 21 December 2025 to 18 January 2026. The cities are Rabat, Casablanca, Agadir, Marrakech, Fes and Tangier.

The draw for the 2025 Total Energies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament was held at the Mohammed V National Theatre in Rabat, Morocco on Monday, 27th January 2025.
Hosts Morocco will face Mali, 2012 winner Zambia and Comoros in Group A.
Group B has record AFCON winners Egypt, 1996 champions South Africa, Angola and Zimbabwe.
The CECAFA derby between Uganda and Tanzania will be the big talking point for Group C.
Nigeria, three-time champions and one-time champion Tunisia are the other two countries in the group.

Senegal, DR Congo, Benin and Botswana are all in Group D. Group E has Algeria, Burkina Faso, Equatorial Guinea and Sudan.
Group F has Cote D’Ivoire, Cameroon, Gabon and Mozambique.

Former winners:
Egypt has won the most trophies at AFCON; 7 in 1957, 1959, 1986, 1998, 2006, 2008, 2010
Cameroon has 5 trophies in AFCON; 1984, 1988, 2000, 2002, 2017
Ghana has 4 AFCON trophies won in 1963, 1965, 1978, 1982
Nigeria and Ivory Coast have 3 trophies apiece. Algeria and DR Congo (2 trophies each).

Zambia, Tunisia, Sudan, Senegal, South Africa, Ethiopia, Morocco and Congo have one trophy each.
Three countries have won two back-to-back championships; Egypt (1957 & 1959); Ghana (1963 & 1956) as well as Cameroon (2000 & 2002).
Only one country; Egypt has managed three consecutive championships 2006, 2008 and 2010.
