The second round of the DP Tour 2025 Magical Kenya Open was played on Friday, 21st February at the par-71 Muthaiga Golf Course in Nairobi city.
It was the decisive round for the field to make the cut for the prize kitty of of $425,000 (at least Ug.Shs 1.5 billion) as the golfers made it 36 holes.
By close of business, 67 professionals were successful with the level par cut.
English man John Parry scored 6-under-65 during round two to establish a shot lead over French national Benjamin Hebert.
South African Jayden Schaper (-9) and Swedish Christofer Blomstrand (-8) are third and fourth respectively after 36 holes.
The championship has remained a grey patch for East African players.
None of the players from the region made the treasured cut.
The best being Kenyan Riz Charani in the 93rd position with +3 in 36 holes played (69 and 76 gross).
Uganda national team captain Joseph Cwiny-ai finished the second round in the 147th position with 81 and 80 gross scores (+19).
US based professional Willy Deus Kitata retired the second round prematurely.
Kitata who had played 6-over-77 during round one did not complete the second round.
Having commenced day two on the back course where he had scored a birdie, 2 bogies and double bogies apiece as well as 4 pars, Kitata ended abruptly his round on the 13th hole after three bogies and a par.
Reports indicate that he had an injured leg and could not push on for the remaining five holes.
Round three will be played on Saturday, 22nd February 2024 as the golfer earn good placements for the money quest.
Darius van Driel is the reigning champion.
