Victoria Pearls held their nerve in a nail bitter against Namibia and scrapped home to win by 1 run.
In a rain-affected game that was reduced to 16 overs a side, Namibia won the toss and elected to bowl first.
The Victoria Pearls had another slow start accumulating 12 dot balls without scoring a run before Immaculate Nakisuyi was run out for the second game in a row. Janet Mbabazi (19) and Esther Ilukor (21) put on 37 for the second wicket partnership and a late charge from Rita Musamali (16) and Malisa Ariokot (7) helped Uganda finish on a modest 71/6 in 16 overs.
In the run chase, Namibia lost their dangerous Captain Sune Whitman early and that gave Uganda a chance to push the envelope. The slow bowling options of Janet Mbabazi, Consy Aweko, and Immaculate Nakisuyi bowled mean spells with their combined effort of nine overs costing only 30 runs.
Sarah Akiteng benefited from that pressure as she ripped through the Namibian batting to claim a fiver and finished with the best bowling figures of 5/14 in her quota of four overs.
Uganda sneaked past the Namibians to win by 1 run, and Uganda was able to bounce back from their Day 2 loss to Nepal.
In the afternoon, Hong Kong China played out another blinder of a game-winning by 2 runs against Nepal.
Hong Kong China with a second win of the series that moved them into second position.
The win for Uganda kept them top of the table and with a positive net run rate as the teams take a break at the end of the first round.
The action will return on Wednesday at the start of the second round.
