NEC FC kept within touching distance of leaders Vipers SC after securing victory on the road against Maroons FC on Friday in Luzira.

The Die Hards cruised to a 3-1 to keep run away leaders Vipers in check.

Enock Ssebagala, Paul Mucureezi and Emmanuel Ajo scored a goal each for NEC FC.

The consolation for the Prison Warders was scored by Rogers Kiwanuka.

Ssebagala who recently earned his first call on the Uganda Cranes, opened the scores in the 12th minute.

The visitors doubled their lead nine minutes later with Mucureezi converting from the spot after Gideon Odongo was brought down in the box.

Maroons were however able to score four minutes later with Kiwanuka also converting from the spot.

NEC FC were able to regain their two-goal cushion before the break through Ajo.

The second half was largely devoid of opportunities for either side despite changes in the playing unit.

The result takes NEC FC within two points of Vipers SC who play Wakiso Giants FC later on. Maroons FC on the other hand dropped to seventh place on 27 points.
