Mbaguta officially takes over from Angu’deyo as UGC lady captain, successful championship held

Men:

• Winner: David Nambale (Handicap 11) – 42 points
• Runners up: Danniel Kalimuzo (Handicap 23) – 41 points

Ladies:

• Winner: Grace Obua (Handicap 28) – 45 points
• Runners up: Olivia Nakuya (Handicap 36) – 44 points

It is a new era for the lady captain’s office of Uganda Golf Club (UGC).

Seasoned lady golfer Gloria Mbaguta officially commenced her term in office on Saturday, 15^th March 2025.

Mbaguta, one of the few left-handed female golfers in the country received the instruments of power from her predecessor, Wendy Angu’deyo.

“I am happy to start my term as the lady captain of Uganda Golf Club (UGC). Together with my fellow executive committee members, we shall maintain the status quo of lady golfers at UGC and in the country” Mbaguta who currently plays off handicap 6 remarked.

Mbaguta will be deputized by Sarah Nduhukire. Catherine Wabomba is the secretary with Suzan Tashobya as the treasurer.

In the official lady captain’s prize tournament to bid-farewell to the out-going executive, a large of golfers (over 210) took part.

I am honoured to have served as UGC Lady Captain for two years. It has been tough but I enjoyed every moment of it. I am grateful to the outgoing team for all the work they put in to make my tenure a success. It is your commitment that made this enjoyable and we enjoyed all our successes together. I wish the new executive all the best and I invite all golfers to come and enjoy this tournament.

Top performers:

David Nambale, playing off handicap 11 emerged as the overall winner in male cluster with 42 points.

Nambale came top ahead of Danniel Kalimuzo (handicap 23) with 41 points.

Grace Obua (handicap 28) with the outstanding overall lady golfer with 45 points, one better than Olivia Nakuya (handicap 36).

Groups top performers:

For group A ladies; Judith Komugisha (Handicap 6) scored 38 points to win on countback, ahead of Berna Musanabera (Handicap 10).

Harriet Kitaka (Handicap 7) came third with 36 points.

Group B:

Annett Kiconco (Handicap 23) emerged top in group B ladies with 40 points.

Connie Nshemereirwe (handicap 22) was second with 38 points (countback) and Sarah Nduhukire (handicap 16) followed suit, also with 38 points.

Group C:

The ladies’ winner in group C was Grace Obua (handicap 28) with 45 points, a point better than Olivia Nakuya (Handicap 36).

Ruth Akello (handicap 31) scored 43 points for third place.

Men:

Vincent Katutsi (handicap 8) was victorious in men group A with 39 points, one better than Dickson Agaba (handicap 9).

Geoffrey Katooro (handicap 9) finished third with 36 points.

In group B, David Nambale (Handicap 11) finished with 42 points, Alexander Matsiko (handicap 10) with 39 points and William Mutyaba (handicap 14) on 39 points, too.

Guest players:

The guest players’ section had Henry Luwemba (handicap 39) winning on 42 points.

Josephine Babirye (handicap 28) also scored 37 points.
